Beyond Batteries ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information.

This Privacy Policy explains how the Beyond Batteries mobile application ("the App") accesses, processes and handles information when communicating with compatible battery management systems (BMS) using Bluetooth.

2. Bluetooth Communication and Battery Data

The App uses Bluetooth to discover, connect to and communicate directly with compatible batteries and their battery management systems.

The App may access and display information including:

  • Battery voltage, current and state of charge

  • Individual cell voltages

  • Battery temperature

  • Battery health and operating status

  • Battery management system configuration and diagnostic information

  • Battery identification and technical information

This information is exchanged directly between your mobile device and the connected battery using Bluetooth.

Battery information is processed locally on your device and is not automatically transmitted to Beyond Batteries or uploaded to our servers.

3. App Permissions

The App requests Bluetooth permissions to discover nearby compatible batteries, establish connections and exchange battery information.

Depending on your Android version, the operating system may also require location-related permissions to enable Bluetooth device discovery.

These permissions are used solely to provide the App's Bluetooth functionality and are not used to track your physical location.

The App may also use your device's file storage functionality to allow you to save diagnostic information as a CSV file.

You can manage the App's permissions through your Android device settings. Disabling certain permissions may prevent some features from working correctly.

4. Diagnostic Logs and Technical Support

The App provides an optional feature allowing users to export battery diagnostic information as a CSV (Comma-Separated Values) file.

This feature is intended to assist with troubleshooting and technical support.

  • Diagnostic files are generated and saved locally on your device.

  • The App does not automatically upload or transmit diagnostic files to Beyond Batteries or any external server.

  • Exporting a diagnostic file does not automatically share it with Beyond Batteries.

  • Users retain control over whether they share their exported diagnostic information.

  • If technical support is required, users may independently attach the CSV file to an email using their preferred email application and send it to Beyond Batteries.

Diagnostic files may contain battery operating information, configuration details, battery identification information and other technical data relevant to troubleshooting.

If you voluntarily send a diagnostic file to Beyond Batteries, we will use the information to investigate your support request and provide technical assistance.

5. Data Collection and Sharing

During normal operation, the App communicates directly with compatible batteries using Bluetooth.

Battery information is processed locally on your device and is not automatically uploaded to Beyond Batteries or third-party servers.

The App does not automatically transmit personal information or battery diagnostic information to Beyond Batteries.

If you voluntarily send a diagnostic CSV file to Beyond Batteries using your own email application, we may receive:

  • Battery diagnostic and operating information contained in the file

  • Your email address

  • Any additional information you choose to include in your message

We use this information to respond to support enquiries, investigate technical issues and provide assistance.

We do not sell personal information or diagnostic information, and we do not use diagnostic information for advertising or marketing purposes.

Support communications may be processed by our email service providers for delivery and storage.

Information voluntarily provided to Beyond Batteries through technical support enquiries is used for the following purposes:

Diagnostic CSV files exported through the App are saved to your device, where you control their storage, sharing and deletion.

Beyond Batteries does not automatically receive copies of these files.

Where users voluntarily provide diagnostic files or personal information for technical support, we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect that information against unauthorised access, loss or misuse.

Emails and attachments are transmitted and stored using the infrastructure of the email service providers involved and are subject to their security practices.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Beyond Batteries does not automatically store battery operating information received through the App on its servers.

Diagnostic CSV files exported by the App remain on your device until you choose to delete them, subject to your device's storage and file-management settings.

Where you voluntarily submit diagnostic files or personal information for technical support, we retain that information only for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve your enquiry, maintain appropriate support records or comply with applicable legal obligations.

If you choose to share an exported diagnostic file using an external email application, the transmission is handled independently by your chosen email provider and is subject to that provider's privacy policy.

Beyond Batteries is not responsible for the privacy practices of independently selected third-party email providers.

10. Children's Privacy

The App is intended for users who operate or manage compatible battery systems and is not specifically designed for children.

The App does not intentionally collect personal information from children.
